Description

It’s perfect for teaching the Parsha torah portion to toddlers, preschool and elementary. And these are perfect for teaching the story of Passover (or Pesach) too! Use it as part of a kids’ Haggadah craft in the Maggid section – with a page-size base, it’ll fit right in!

These are glorified coloring pages, making them doable for any age group. They are kind of puppets but with a background scene to really bring them into the bible – Parsha – story.

The sea splits open to reveal dry land between two sea walls. Puppets of Moses with staff, Miriam with tambourine, and Nachshon (who plunged in first) allow kids to bring to t live. You can cut a slit in the center for them to travel through or skip that.

All my crafts are based on the accepted Orthodox Jewish understanding of the events (to the best of my ability).

How to use the Parshat Beshalach craft
Print on cardstock, color, cut out. Glue the sea walls to the back of the split sea, fold the tabs back, and glue to the dry land base. Add sticks to make puppets and to make them travel across the sea. Instructions are included with your download.

Act out the story, sing a song, use as a teaching visual, or just have fun with it.

Print then cut
Your download also includes PNG images of the puppets only with transparent backgrounds around the circle, and right within. These can be used with Cricut’s “print then cut” feature.

Puppets Included:

  • Nachshon – a classic interpretation of an Israelite male to represent the biblical figure of Nachshon ben Aminadav whose faith in G-d’s miracles made him plunge into the river first.
  • Moses (Moshe) holding a staff that he’d use to raise it and split the sea.
  • Miriam led the women in singing praise to G-d, a big part of this week’s Torah portion!

This is the COLOR-IN version. Any colors showcased on the images is a sample craft.
This makes for a great teaching tool for Parshat Beshalach or any time you’re discussing Kriyat Yam Suf/The Splitting of the Sea
